The Person Not Present identity verification method allows agents to remotely verify a client's identity by sending them a secure email link. This method is ideal for situations where the client is not physically available to complete the verification in person.

This article explains how to initiate a Person Not Present verification, what information is required, and what the client receives in their email. It also provides details on the default email template and compliance with FINTRAC regulations.


Initiating a Person Not Present

Initiating a Person Not Present verification requires entering your client's First Name, Last Name, and Email. Once you've entered these details, click Send Instructions to email the verification link directly to your client.

When you initiate a Person Not Present verification, your client will receive an email that looks like this:

Hello [Client's Name],
You are receiving this email from [Agent's Name] at [Brokerage's Name].
As part of our commitment to comply with the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC) regulations, we are required to verify the identity of our clients during real estate transactions. This process is mandated by the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act (PCMLTFA) to help detect and deter money laundering and terrorist financing activities within Canada.
